| Amnesty Academics: Cali college offers scholarship to illegal immigrants |
|
Fox News reported last week, Santa Ana College in Orange County will be offering a memorial scholarship for students holding green cards, permanent residents, and... illegal, undocumented immigrants. The scholarship will be funded by private donations, and other requirements include a 3.0 GPA and students must be pursuing American citizenship. The last requirement causes us to scratch our heads because one cannot apply for citizenship if they are here illegally. So if illegal immigrant students can apply, they can't be pursuing American citizenship. Something doesn't add up here, but then again what do the technicalities to become an American citizen mean to the left? What started this whole mess? The scholarship was founded in memory of Tan Ngoc Tran, an undocumented immigrant and immigrant rights activist, who was killed by a drunk driver on May 15. Tran was currently pursuing her doctorate at Brown, but had previously attended the Orange County college. While defendants of this scholarship say no public funds are involved, the college that is supported by tax-payer dollars will undoubtedly direct resources towards illegal immigrants, when plenty of Americans are in need of an education. CampusLIE suggests it's safe to call Santa Ana college in the OC a sanctuary campus. |
